About Casnovia Township Minimize

Casnovia Township is located in Western Michigan. We are located in Muskegon County being 22 miles from the center of Muskegon. We are also 25 miles North of Grand Rapids.

We have one lake in our township.  Easy access off M37, Half Moon Lake is large enough for boating, swimming, and of course fishing.  In the winter, you will find fishing shanties set up on the lake as soon as the lake freezes.

We are a farming community. In the spring, you will be amazed at the blossoms from the cherries, peaches, and apple trees. You will see many fields of corn, wheat, and soy bean fields along with many hay fields.

The Public Accuracy Test is conducted to demonstrate that the program and computer that will be used to tabulate the results of the election, counts the votes in the manner prescribed by law.

The purpose of the Special Meeting of the Casnovia Township Board is to consult with its attorneys in closed session regarding pending litigation, AEP Renewables, LLC v Casnovia Township (Case 19-002872) and Jonithan Armstrong, et al, v Casnovia Township (Case 19 -002901), as discussion in an open meeting would have a detrimental financial effect on the litigation or settlement position of the Township.   

The Township Board will convene in open session and, if approved by 2/3 majority roll call vote of the Township Board, will go into closed session to discuss the litigation described above in accordance with MCL 15.268(e).

ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

                                  

The Casnovia Township Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 7:00 P.M., located at the Casnovia Township Hall, 245 S. Canada Rd., Casnovia, MI 49318 to hear any and all public comments relative to the request from the applicant stated below.

The applicant, Kelly Devine, is seeking a variance from section(s) of the Casnovia Zoning Ordinance which includes Article 14 Accessory Use Provisions, Section 14.01 Accessory Buildings (d),  allowing accessory buildings and structures in zoned districts, other than the agricultural districts, to be located in the side and rear yard areas only. The applicant is proposing to construct a 512 square foot accessory building in the front-side yard. The property is located in the R-1 Single-Family Residential District.
